I’ve been trying to get my long time friend, Carl Pierce on the show for somewhere close to a year now, to have this conversation. With everything going on in the world, we need more people willing to have these kinds of conversations and listening to each other.

Carl grew up about 10 minutes from where I did in a small white midwestern town in Illinois. We grew up in the same area, around the same people, with a lot of the same friends, and same conversations, but the glaringly obvious difference is that I am white as the morning snowfall and Carl is a big black dude in a small white city.

So, I wanted to have Carl on the show to pick his brain on some of his personal experiences as an extreme minority in our community and how those have varied throughout his life in different locations. We also, of course, shared thoughts on the George Floyd murder, #BLM, #CancelCulture, and much more.

It was a fun conversation and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Who is Carl Pierce? Should we #DefundThePolice? Is there a such thing as a “good cop”? Can someone support black lives and not support #BlackLivesMatter? Find out all that and more now, on today’s episode of The System is Down episode 172: Big Black Dude, Small White City w. Carl Pierce

Question Everything. Stay Uncomfortable.
Let’s get weird!
